head in the clouds…
Hi :) Thanks for checking out my website. I wonder what brought you here. You probably wonder the same… Why ARE we here? Grappling with those existential questions, second guessings, we are the universe undressing… Anywho:
My name is Emma Claire Speer. Accordingly, I go by Emma, Speer, E, and Emuse (like three people call me Em, which I don’t like in general because it feels virginy, but it’s endearing when they do it, so I let it slide.)
I’m a multidisciplinary creator based in Brooklyn but born and bred in Bridgeport, CT (I will never get through a bio without a hometown shout-out WOOP WOOP BPT 4eva).
I was born with a big heart, big soul, big brain, and big smile, which sounds fun (and it mostly is), but can be a lot! So, in order to make sense of my internal and our external worlds, I create. I must. I dream that my creations help YOU do the same (yes, YOU, you cute lil punk).
My creations are not my babies– they are my friends. And maybe they’ll be yours one day, too! They would love that.

More biographical stuff:
Education: I graduated from Yale University in 2017 with a B.S. in Cognitive Science. I did my thesis on implicit bias in comedy. Shout out High Horizons Magnet in Bridgeport and Hopkins School in New Haven.
Performance background: At Yale, I was in Just Add Water, a musical improv group that toured the country twice a year. I also wrote late-night-style sketch comedy for the Good Show, in addition to performing in many plays, interactive theatre experiences, stand up, and one woman shows. After Yale, I performed in several theatre produced in New York anc Connecticut. I also produced my own one-woman shows, Nine Lives, From Jerky to Juicy, and Hysterical, which I later converted into a feature length film (more info here).
Tutoring: One of the reasons I lean so deeply into creativity is because it’s an act of self-discovery, which is why I’ve taken so well to being an educator. Since 2017, I’ve been tutoring physics, mathematics through multivariable calculus, and writing. I also work with students with special needs, using my skills in performance, creative writing, and visual arts to make schooling not only possible but fun! I’ve also mentored students through difficult life struggles and situations by helping them find their creative voices. I have a billion stories that I may write about if I start a newsletter…
Radio: My radio show Emuse (where we muse, amuse, amaze with music, on the one and only WPKN 89.5; more details here) is one of my favorite things I do. I’ve been spreading joy and Emusings on the FM waves since 2018.
Other professional experience: I was the Director of Private Events for Park City Music Hall in Bridgeport, CT. I also served as the Secretary and Director at Large for WPKN. I’ve narrated a few audiobooks (on Audible, more info here). Now, I am the Director of Communications, brand strategist and event producer for Lioness, an experiential company that brings female founders and creatives together for immersive and transformational experiences.
